Thick plate rolling processes are generally divided into two types: hot rolling and cold rolling.
1. Hot Rolling
Hot rolling involves heating a steel slab to a certain temperature and then pressing it into a plate of a certain thickness and width using a rolling mill. While hot rolling offers advantages such as high efficiency and wide applicability, it also suffers from poor surface quality and requires subsequent surface treatment.
2. Cold Rolling
Cold rolling involves rolling steel slabs at room temperature. It is characterized by excellent surface quality and high dimensional accuracy. However, due to its lower strength, its application range is relatively limited.
